Rose-clad cottages line the road in Burnsall, lying in the heart of Wharfedale where the drystone walls spread like a net over the fells, as we can just see in the background. At the end of the main street rises the spire of St Wilfred's parish church, originally a Saxon foundation; it was 'beautified' in 1612.
